About The Role
AVCA strives to drive, catalyse and support the sustainability of private capital in Africa. In line with this mandate, we are seeking a self-motivated Programme Manager with excellent organisational, commercial and stakeholder management skills, who is accustomed to working to a very high standard, often with strict deadlines. AVCA is looking for a highly competent and results-oriented professional with project management, compliance, as well as monitoring and evaluation reporting experience, accustomed to driving commercial initiatives and supervising business outcomes.
The role offers the opportunity to closely collaborate with AVCA leadership, ensuring stakeholder objectives are clearly understood, tracked and delivered. The ideal candidate will be expected to manage project bottlenecks, identify risks, and assume planning, implementation and monitoring responsibility to ensure all initiatives remain within scope and budget.
This is an exceptional opportunity for a driven, detail-oriented individual to strategize and implement bespoke program initiatives centred around capital mobilisation and sustainable developmental impact for African Private Capital. The successful candidate will be part of a high performing, committed team of professionals, responsible for the end-to-end planning and delivery of AVCA’s long term programmes. This individual will work closely with the AVCA’s Chief Executive Officer and Head of Strategic Initiatives and Stakeholder Engagement.
Key Responsibilities
Partner with Head of Strategic Initiatives and Stakeholder Engagement to develop the project scope, plan and design for each AVCA programme, and deliver quality execution
Act as point of contact for donor reporting across all programmes
Construct, monitor and manage programme budgets meticulously, to guarantee cost alignment and compliance with financial objectives and project scope
Compile comprehensive monitoring, governance, and evaluation reports periodically for internal and external stakeholders to analyse the performance and progress of AVCA programmes
Develop activity schedules and create detailed operational and project plans for each strategic initiative once signed off, engaging/contracting the appropriate service providers and delivery partners as required
Adhere to operating plan, catalogue organisational processes, and establish clear timelines for AVCA initiatives to ensure an optimal return on investment and alignment with agreed objectives
Lead on the fulfilment of all aspects of stakeholder relations and communication, as well as all corresponding internal and external administrative requirements
Develop rigorous program assessment protocols for the continuous measurement, data collection and improvement of AVCA programmes
Define roles, responsibilities and communication plans for programme implementing partners, ensuring project goals are reached whilst upholding a high standard
Serve as the primary point of contact between AVCA and its external stakeholders, promptly and effectively handling written and telephone inquiries, providing essential introductory information on available programmes, and guiding stakeholders through the application process
Proactively identify, evaluate, and resolve risks, and capture best-practices to foster knowledge-transfer opportunities and enhanced efficiency across multiple programmes
Skills Required
At least three years' experience as programme manager managing projects with a duration of six months or more
Tertiary qualifications in a business-related discipline and mid-management experience in a compliance, relationship management and/or programme management role
Ability to manage and navigate complex and high-risk situations, and proactively convert conflicts and concerns into positive outcomes
Confident, articulate, and effective communicator with a high level of attention to detail and accuracy of work
Highly professional, service-focused implementor with demonstrated track-record in producing time-sensitive deliverables for stakeholders at varying levels of seniority
Strong business-acumen with substantial project delivery experience, able to work with minimal support and supervision
Ability to work effectively on multiple, concurrent, or competing projects with the ability to provide structure, prioritise and multi-task effectively toward a successful implementation
General private capital or financial markets expertise (preferred but not essential) and a keen interest in emerging markets, particularly Africa, is preferred
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook)
