Job Overview

The primary focus of this role is to contribute to the success of LeapFrog’s pioneering healthcare investment team. You will be involved in the sourcing, valuation, structuring and transaction execution of new investments in rising Africa. You’ll also use your subject-matter expertise to drive value, financial returns and impact for LeapFrog’s Africa portfolio. This is an exciting opportunity for a high-performing future investment leader to make their mark, supporting a new team and helping expand the healthcare landscape in some of the world’s fastest-growing markets.

Responsibilities 

  • Proactively network and support the sourcing of healthcare deals in Africa that are aligned with LeapFrog’s Profit with Purpose ethos
  • Support the valuation, structuring and deal execution process
  • Contribute to value creation and reporting for a range of investments across the various healthcare sub-sectors and geographies, with the aim of maximising exits
  • Identify and recommend specialist local resources as required
  • Participate in the due diligence process of new investment opportunities and identify areas of value add in corporate governance, operational efficiencies and product development
  • Support the day to day management of the healthcare investment team’s signature systems and processes

Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree or equivalent in Finance, Economics, Accounting or Business or related; an MBA or similar qualification is desirable
  • A background in healthcare or Financial Services investing  experience working across is Africa
  • 3 - 5 years of experience in corporate finance, investment banking or private equity, preferably across healthcare services with a solid understanding of the various sub-sectors (hospitals, diagnostics, pharmaceuticals, medical technologies, etc.)
  • Familiarity with the private equity investment landscape in Africa
  • Demonstrated excellence in financial modelling and analysis, business assessment and corporate or strategic advisory work
  • Ability to manage transactions to a successful closing, and monitor the ongoing performance of portfolio companies
  • Superb written and verbal communications skills, and a high level of comfort in a variety of cultural settings
  • Comfort with fast-moving and hands-on work environments spanning multiple geographies
  • A genuine passion for delivering significant social impact
  • A willingness to travel internationally
  • Fluency in French helpful but not required
