African Private Equity and Venture Capital Association (AVCA) is a member-supported organisation whose mission is to catalyse the private equity and venture capital industry in Africa.

ROLE & RESPONSIBILITIES

The research intern will work closely with AVCA’s research team to provide support across a range of initiatives, including:

  • Collating and tracking industry news, announcements and research reports from primary and secondary sources
  • Contributing to, and maintaining, AVCA’s database of private equity and venture capital activity, including fundraising, investments, and exits
  • Assisting with data collection and supporting analysis for AVCA reports such as the Industry Survey, Africa Exit Study and Annual Data Tracker Dashboard, the Inaugural VC Report
  • Providing timely responses to internal and external stakeholder research-related requests
  • Providing support on an ad-hoc basis to other team members within AVCA including marketing, communications, events, training and membership

REQUIRED SKILLS

  • Strong Microsoft PowerPoint, Excel and Word skills
  • Excellent oral and written communication, and presentation skills
  • Demonstrable research skills in a related field
  • Highly motivated, resourceful and tenacious researcher
  • Able to work autonomously and as a part of the team
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Fluency in English

DESIRABLE SKILLS

  • Knowledge of or interest in the development of the African private sector
  • Knowledge of or interest in private equity and venture capital in Africa
