Abi Mustapha-Maduakor appointed acting Chief Operating Officer for AVCA

London, UK, Monday, 19 September 2016: The African Private Equity and Venture Capital Association (AVCA) is pleased to announce that Abi Mustapha-Maduakor has joined the organization as acting Chief Operating Officer (COO). Abi takes over from Dara Owoyemi who proceeded on a leave of absence from AVCA in April 2016 to work as Special Adviser to Dr. Okechukwu Enelamah, the Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment in Nigeria.


Abi brings several years of corporate finance and banking experience to the role, having worked at Royal Bank of Scotland, Lloyds Banking Group and EY. She previously served as Special Adviser to the former Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment in Nigeria. Abi is a certified chartered accountant through the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Scotland. She also has a MEng in Chemical Engineering from Imperial College, London.


Commenting on Abi’s appointment, Michelle Kathryn Essomé, Chief Executive Officer of AVCA commented: “We are excited to welcome Abi to the AVCA team – her wealth of experience, and in particular, her passion for advocacy, will be crucial to driving our goals in the coming months.”
