Abir Attia is an Environmental and Social Development Specialist at IFC – a member of the World Bank Group.
She is an ESG and impact investing expert with a focus on emerging markets and Africa. Prior to joining IFC, Abir was Director - Head of the Responsible Investing Department of AfricInvest Group, a leading Private Equity manager in Africa. Abir works closely with investment colleagues and management to assess ESG risks & opportunities and manage the Development Impact performance of portfolio companies, helping to build world-class businesses and to put in place international standards.
With over 14 years of experience in responsible investment, primarily serving the private equity, banking and development finance sectors, Abir helps to build sustainable businesses and enhance value in Emerging Markets.
Abir is an active member of the Emerging Markets Private Equity Association (EMPEA) ESG Community. She is a graduate of IHEC Carthage Tunis and holds a Master Grande Ecole (Finance) from ESCP EAP Paris and a Master of Science in Management from City University London. Abir speaks Arabic, French and English.
