Gbolahan Elias, Senior Advocate of Nigeria, heads the firm’s private equity group. He has been advising leading private equity and venture capital fund managers and investees in the real estate, oil-and-gas, energy, financial services, telecommunications, technology, healthcare and consumer products sectors on investment and exit transactions as well as on disputes.
Gbolahan Elias was called to the Nigerian Bar in 1981 and the New York Bar in 1990, and has been a Senior Advocate of Nigeria since 2005. He had been an associate at Cravath Swaine & Moore, a pre-eminent New York law firm, in late 1989 – early 1993. Prior to that, he read law at Oxford University, England, with laurels.
He was a Junior Research Fellow at Oxford University’s Merton College (1986-1989), graduated with a doctorate degree in 1989 and published the book “Explaining Constructive Trust” (1990). He has been a Visiting Professor of Law at Babcock University, Ilishan in Nigeria since 2013.
