Matthew Dalby manages the private markets legal team at Ninety One (formerly Investec Asset Management). Ninety One is a global asset manager listed in London and Johannesburg, and is one of the largest third party investors in private equity, credit, public equity and sovereign debt across Africa. Within Ninety One, Matthew advises on private equity and real estate strategies, as well as private fund formations, and serves as legal counsel to Growthpoint Investec African Properties.
Prior to joining Ninety One, Matthew spent five years with FMO, the Dutch development bank, where he was a Senior Counsel. He has practiced as an associate at Fried, Frank, Harris, Shriver and Jacobson LLP in New York and London and at Bowman Gilfillan in Johannesburg.
Matthew is an admitted attorney in New York and South Africa, and holds an LLM from Columbia Law School and an LLB from the University of Cape Town.
